Navigating the PMS
The four sidebar groups and what each screen is for, how permissions decide what you see, what attendants and platform admins get instead, and global search.
Innvera has one navigation for everyone, trimmed to what you are allowed to do. The sidebar opens from the menu button (☰) at the left of the navbar and lists four groups: Front Desk, Operations, Finance and Admin. Every entry carries its own permission check, so two people at the same property can open the same sidebar and see different lists — and a group with nothing left in it disappears rather than showing an empty heading.
The sidebar is a drawer on every screen size: click ☰ to open it, click an item to navigate and it closes. The active item is highlighted, and a nested page keeps its parent highlighted — a reservation opened from Bookings still shows Bookings as the current screen, and every page under Settings highlights Settings.
Front Desk
| Item | Path | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboard | /dashboard | Today's arrivals, in-house, departures and occupancy, booking sources, revenue, room availability and the live feed. See Dashboard. |
| Arrivals & Departures | /front-desk | The desk's working list for today: who is due in, who is due out, and the check-in and check-out dialogs. See Arrivals and check-in. |
| Calendar | /calendar | The room-by-night timeline. Drag a stay to move it, resize it to change its length, drop it on another room. See Calendar. |
| Bookings | /bookings | The searchable, filterable list of every reservation. See Bookings list. |
| Groups | /groups | Group blocks, rooming lists and master billing. See Group bookings. |
| Companies & agents | /companies | Corporate accounts and travel agents, their negotiated rates and their credit. See Companies and agents. |
| Inventory | /inventory-management | Availability, rates and restrictions per room type and date, with bulk updates. See Inventory and availability. |
| Guests | /guests | Guest profiles, stay history and identity documents. See Guests. |
Operations
| Item | Path | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Rooms | /rooms | Two tabs: Room Types (what you sell) and Room (the physical units and their condition). See Room types and rooms. |
| Housekeeping | /housekeeping | The supervisor board, with its own tabs for Assignments, the room rack, Inspections and Lost & found. See Housekeeping. |
| My tasks | /housekeeping/my-tasks | Your own sheet of rooms for today. See the attendant app. |
| Maintenance | /maintenance | Work orders: raising them, assigning them, approving and closing them. See Maintenance. |
| Stores | /stores | Stock on hand, deliveries, counts and adjustments. See Stores. |
My tasks has no permission check of its own — it is listed for every member of the property, because supervisors and managers take rooms too. For an attendant it is moved to the top of the group, ahead of the board.
Finance
| Item | Path | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Accounting | /accounting | Folios, payments, invoices, receivables, cashier, journal, the night audit and reports. See Accounting. |
Admin
| Item | Path | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Settings | /settings | Property, Users & Permission, Accounting, Booking Engine, Channel Manager and Logs. See Administration. |
Settings opens on Property Settings; the settings rail on its left is its own navigation, separate from the sidebar.
How permissions decide what you see
Each sidebar entry names one permission — a resource and an action — and is shown only if your roles grant it. The owner of the property passes every check.
| Item | Needs |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | reports: read |
| Arrivals & Departures, Calendar, Bookings, Groups | reservation: read |
| Companies & agents | accounting: read or folio: read |
| Inventory | inventory: read |
| Guests | guest: read |
| Rooms | room: read |
| Housekeeping | housekeeping: read |
| My tasks | nothing — every member sees it |
| Maintenance | maintenance: read |
| Stores | stores: read |
| Accounting | accounting: read or folio: read |
| Settings | any one of hotel: write, hotel_content: write, user: read, housekeeping: configure, channex: read, booking_engine: read, tax: read, rate_plan: read, room_type: read |
Settings is deliberately generous: it appears as soon as a single settings section is usable, and the rail inside it is what narrows things further. A supervisor whose only configuration permission is housekeeping: configure still sees Settings.
The three navbar quick actions follow the same rule: the Calendar and Bookings icons need reservation: read, the Chat icon needs messaging: read, and the round + (New reservation) needs reservation: write.
Hidden is not blocked, and a wrong URL bounces you
Hiding an item is a convenience, not security — the server checks every request on its own. If you open a sidebar page by URL that your roles do not cover, Innvera sends you to the first page you can open instead of showing you an empty screen. That is why an attendant signing in does not land on the Calendar even though sign-in points there.
What attendants see
If your roles let you work housekeeping tasks but not assign them — the pattern of a room attendant, and what the seeded Attendant role grants — the sidebar collapses to the pages built for you. Only the Operations group remains, with three entries in this order:
- My tasks — your sheet of rooms for today, which appears once a supervisor publishes the day. This is where you work.
- Maintenance — so you can see the open work orders on a room.
- Stores — so you can see what is on hand.
Nothing else is listed, even when your role also grants reads (reservations, rooms) that exist only to make those three pages work. The navbar quick actions and the + button are hidden too. Installing Innvera as an app on a phone opens My tasks directly.
A Supervisor is not an attendant: because the role grants housekeeping: assign, the full sidebar applies and My tasks sits under the board rather than above it.
What platform administrators see
A platform administrator is an Innvera operator, not staff at any one property. Their sidebar holds a single Platform group — General Information (/profile), Properties (/properties) and Logs (/logs) — and the navbar loses the property switcher, search and quick actions. Properties lists every registered property with its Pending / Verified / Rejected document status, location, currency and Channex connection, and is where new registrations are verified. See Multi-property & Platform Admin.
The navbar on a phone
Below tablet width the navbar compresses. The property name moves into the sidebar drawer. The search field becomes a magnifier icon that expands into a full-width search bar (← closes it). The Calendar and Bookings quick links disappear (use the sidebar); the Chat icon and the + button stay. The theme switch moves into your profile menu as Dark mode / Light mode. Tables such as Bookings and Guests turn into card lists.
Global search
The search field in the navbar (placeholder Search reservations, guests, and more) searches as you type, after a short pause, and groups results under Guests, Reservations, Hotels, Room Types and Rate Plans. Reservations are matched by guest name, room type and OTA reservation code; guests by name, email and phone.
- Click a guest to open their profile; a reservation to open its page.
- A room type or rate plan result opens the Rooms list rather than the item itself.
- Press Esc to close the results. Clicking anywhere else also closes them.
- Search is unavailable right now means the search service could not be reached; the list and calendar filters still work.
No keyboard shortcut for search
There is no Ctrl + K / ⌘ + K shortcut, and no page-level keyboard shortcuts elsewhere in the PMS. Click the field to focus it. The one modifier-key gesture in the app is Ctrl / ⌘ + click-and-drag to select cells in the Inventory grid.
Quick actions
Four controls in the navbar save a trip through the sidebar: the Calendar and Bookings icons, the Chat speech bubble, and the round + button. The + opens the New Reservation sheet; if you are not on the Calendar it takes you there first, so the new stay appears on the grid the moment it is saved. The bell beside them opens the notification drawer.
Tips
- Can't see Accounting, Settings or Companies? That is a permissions decision, not a bug. Ask the owner; see Roles and Permissions.
- Old links still work.
/reservationsredirects to Bookings,/taxesto Settings → Accounting → Taxes & fees,/settings/usersto Users & Permission, and the root URL to the Dashboard. - Pages without a sidebar entry — Reports, Chat, Reviews, Media, Facilities, Rate plans, Policies, Billing and your Profile — are reached from inside their parent screens, from the navbar, or by URL.
- Housekeeping configuration is not in the Settings rail. Open it from the Housekeeping module, where the links that need it live.
