Front Desk

The screens a front desk agent uses all day — dashboard, the arrivals and departures board, the calendar, bookings, availability and guest profiles.

Front Desk is the first group in the sidebar and the one most staff live in. It holds the screens that answer the desk's daily questions: how is today going (Dashboard), who is arriving and leaving right now (Arrivals & Departures), who is in which room and when (Calendar), find me a booking (Bookings), what can we sell and for how much (Inventory) and who is this person (Guests). Check-in and check-out are actions on a reservation rather than screens of their own, but they are worked from the board, and this section documents them as the two flows they are.

Everything here reads and writes the same reservation records described in Reservations. What the Front Desk pages add is the operational view: today's arrivals and departures counted on the property's clock, the room grid with housekeeping conditions painted on it, the availability numbers that channels and the booking engine sell from, and the guest history that tells you a returning guest is returning.

A typical morning runs top to bottom through this section. Open the Dashboard to see arrivals due, departures due and how many rooms are not ready. Open Arrivals & Departures and work the departures first — checking out turns the room over to housekeeping — then the arrivals as guests appear, each through the three-step check-in. Print the Report for the day before handing over. Between times, the Calendar is where you take a phone booking straight off the grid, Bookings is where you find a reservation, and Inventory is where you close a date or change a price when the manager asks.

Two more items sit in the same sidebar group and are documented elsewhere: Groups, for block bookings and rooming lists, in Reservations, and Companies & agents, for corporate accounts and their ledgers, in Receivables and City Ledger.
