Branding and Content
Colours, fonts, logo and favicon under Theme; hero copy, about, amenities, gallery, policies, FAQs and contact under Content — and where each lands.
Two sections of the setup rail decide how your storefront looks and what it says. Theme holds the palette, fonts, layout density and brand marks. Content holds the words and pictures, one group of fields per section of the site. Both edit the draft, so nothing reaches guests until you Save draft and then Publish site.
Room names, descriptions and photographs are not edited here — they come from the room type records under Rooms, so the storefront, the front desk and your OTAs always describe the same room.
Theme
Open Settings → Booking Engine → Theme.
Colours
Three colours, each with a swatch you can click to open the colour picker and a hex field you can type into. The note under the heading is worth taking literally: "These drive the guest site — not the PMS chrome."
| Field | Default | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Primary | #3D4A9E | The brand colour of the guest site. |
| Secondary | #1C2438 | Headings and the deep tone behind the hero image. |
| Accent | #2A9D8F | Buttons that move the guest forward — Check availability, Book now, Confirm booking — and the ticks in the amenities list. |
Text placed on top of a brand colour is worked out for you: the site measures each colour and picks black or white text for contrast, so a pale primary does not end up with white text on it.
Typography
Font pairing sets the display face and the body face together. The list is the same for every template:
- Geist / Geist
- Newsreader / Geist
- Fraunces / Inter
- Instrument Serif / Figtree
- Syne / Source Sans
- Source Serif / Atkinson Hyperlegible
The pairing applies to the guest storefront only; the PMS keeps its own typeface.
Layout
Rooms columns and Amenities columns each take 1, 2 or 3. Rooms default to a single column (full-width room rows read better with photographs), amenities to two.
Brand marks
Logo and Favicon are chosen from the media library, not uploaded here. Click the circle, pick an image, and it is applied immediately in the preview; Clear removes it.
- The logo appears in the site header next to your property name. If you leave it empty the seed step copies the property logo from Settings → Property.
- The favicon becomes the browser-tab icon for every page of your site.
Add or manage the images themselves under Media — see Facilities and media.
Content
Open Settings → Booking Engine → Content. The fields are grouped by section of the site, in the order they appear on the page. Required fields carry a red asterisk.
| Group | Field | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Landing | Headline (required) | The large line over the hero image. Falls back to your property name if left empty — but it is required before you can publish. |
| Subcopy | One or two sentences under the headline. | |
| Background image | The hero photograph, chosen from the media library. Without one the hero uses your secondary colour. | |
| CTA label | The text on the hero's search button. Defaults to Check availability. | |
| About | Title | Section heading. Defaults to "About the hotel". |
| Description | The paragraph under it. A title on its own is enough to show the section. | |
| Amenities | Highlights | One highlight per line. Each line becomes a ticked item in the amenities grid. |
| Gallery | Gallery images | Any number of images from the media library. Click a thumbnail's × to remove it. |
| Policies | Policies text | Free text shown under "House policies". |
| FAQs | Questions | One question and answer per paragraph, with lines starting Q: and A:. Leave a blank line between blocks. |
| Contact | Email, Phone, Address | Shown in the contact section and used for the "Questions?" line on the confirmation page. |
| Footer | Tagline | One line in the site footer. |
What happens when a field is empty
The site does not show gaps. Each section falls back to data you already maintain:
| Empty field | What the guest sees instead |
|---|---|
| Landing Headline | Your property name |
| Amenities → Highlights | The property's own amenity list |
| Policies text | Your structured policies, rewritten for guests — cancellation tiers, check-in and check-out, children, pets, house rules |
| FAQs → Questions | Your property FAQs, or two generic answers about check-in time and free cancellation |
| Contact fields | The property's primary email, phone and address |
| Gallery images | The gallery section is hidden entirely, and the Gallery link disappears from the site navigation |
Seeded, not blank
When you first turn the engine on, most of these fields are already filled in from the property: name, description, logo, contacts, address, enabled facilities and policies. Editing them is a review, not a blank page.
Where each field lands
Every template draws from the same fields; they differ in arrangement, not in content.
- Header — logo, property name, links to Rooms, About, Amenities, Gallery (only when you have gallery images) and Contact, plus a Book now button.
- Hero — headline, subcopy, background image, and the date-and-guests search bar with your CTA label.
- Rooms — one card or row per showcased room type, in your chosen number of columns.
- About, Amenities, Gallery, House policies, FAQs, Contact, Footer — in that order on Classic; the other templates reorder them (Courtyard puts the gallery before the rooms, Horizon opens with a full-height hero and a horizontal room scroller).
Formatting is deliberately limited. Text you paste from a rich editor keeps only basic markup — paragraphs, line breaks, bold, italic, lists and links — and anything else is stripped before the page is served.
Room content
Each showcased room type shows its name, its description, and its images in the order you set on the room type, largest first. Fix a description or replace a photograph under Rooms, not here, and the change reaches the storefront on the next page load — it does not need a republish, because room records are read live.
Per-room amenities — coming soon
The per-room-type amenity matrix is not yet shown on the storefront: room cards currently show the name, description and photographs only. Property-level amenities appear in the Amenities section instead.
Check it before you publish
The Shopfront panel on the right redraws as you type. Use the desktop and mobile toggles — most direct bookings arrive on a phone — and the refresh button if the preview looks stale. Remember that the preview renders the draft: it carries a "Preview — this is an unpublished draft" banner and is not what guests see until you Publish site.
Tips
- Write the headline for someone who already knows you. Guests arriving on a direct site have usually chosen the property already; a reason to book direct works better than the property name repeated.
- Keep amenity highlights to one line each. They render as a ticked grid, not as prose.
- Use the gallery deliberately. With no images the section and its navigation link disappear — which is tidier than three weak photographs.
- Leave a field empty on purpose. The fallbacks above come from data you already keep accurate for OTAs, so an empty policies slot is often better than a copy that will drift.
